Brixton Voices is a competition in search of south London’s next big musical talent marking the opening of BRXTN Studios – a new state-of-the-art music recording studio located in the heart of the Grade-II listed marketplace, Brixton Village.

Open to applicants living in Lambeth, the competition calls on all gifted musicians, singers, rappers, producers and poets to audition by sending an audio or visual piece to the BRXTN Studios team – which will then be reviewed.

A shortlist of 20 finalists will be invited to attend a live audition on the Studios Instagram channel hosted by Harry Pinero in May. The winner of Brixton Voices will be awarded 50 free hours of recording time in BRXTN Studios, who will be on hand to support the winner to refine their artistic vision.

The competition aims to encourage local innovation and celebrate the historical diversity and creativity of Brixton, offering the chance for an aspiring musician to have their musical talent heard, regardless of gender, ethnicity or social background.


The auditions for Brixton Voices will take place virtually via an Instagram Live on @brxtnstudios. Harry will host this event from our recording studios, in the heart Brixton Village. The studio space spans 2,382 sq.ft. and resides in Market Row, home to a vibrant and diverse array of global cuisines and independent traders.

BRXTN Studios’ creative team, led by Brixton resident Karl Lokko, aims to generate an innovative space that champions both emerging and established artists and bring their work to the forefront of Brixton’s community.

They should include an audio or visual piece demonstrating their creative ability. They should also send over a high quality image and short bio which we can use for promotional material if selected.

Selected contestants will be chosen by the BRXTN team and emailed back with confirmation of their time slot for the Live Final.

Note: Twenty submissions will be selected and will each have one minute to showcase their talents. Once all have performed the judges will take the evening to select a winner who will be announced the following morning on @brxtnstudios.

Entrants must be over the age of 16 and based in Lambeth, London.

The purpose of the competition is the search for a creative artist, duo or group and the competition will require a performance to be submitted for review by a panel of judges. Applications made on behalf of a group must have the consent of all members of the group before applying.

Entrants understand the nature of the competition and in submitting an application, hereby consent to the recording and use of their contribution to the competition.

The submission of an application by an entrant does not guarantee the opportunity to audition in the final live event.

Entrants agree to make themselves available at such times with sufficient internet connection as may reasonably be required to participate in the Instagram Live auditions, if chosen to do so.

Entrants agree that by submitting their audition, high quality image and bio, that these may be used for promotional or press material, at any time, relating to the competition.

Entrants may be disqualified from the competition if they supply untruthful, inaccurate or misleading information, have failed to abide by, or are in breach of the Terms & Conditions.

Participants in the Instagram Live final agree to the use of the recordings of their performance for promotional or press material, at any time, relating to the competition.

The winner of the competition will be given 50 hours of free recording time in BRXTN Studios, at a time to be mutually agreed by both parties. This is non-transferable.
